Community Radio

06 February 2024

Mrs SALLY QUINNELL (Camden)—The United Nations designates February 13th each year as World Radio Day. World Radio Day is an opportunity to celebrate all things radio. I would like to use the premise of the upcoming World Radio Day to highlight the community radio stations that serve the people of Camden and the Macarthur region. C91.3FM is a beloved community radio station that proudly broadcasts to the wider Macarthur region. Broadcasting diverse and locally relevant content, C91.3FM has been a steadfast voice connecting residents throughout the region. Through its commitment to community engagement, the station serves as a platform for local information. I would also like to acknowledge 2MCR-FM another community radio station that broadcasts on 100.3FM, covering Campbelltown, Camden, and Wollondilly Shire. Originally permitted to broadcast for only 28 days per year, 2MCR-FM has grown to become a full-time station providing local news and views for many in the community. 2MCR was even once home to a world record with station member Matt Fulton beating the Guinness World Record for Longest Radio DJ Marathon in 2002. Community Radio plays an important role in my electorate and surrounding areas, and I would like to celebrate both 2MCR and C91.3.
