Mrs SALLY QUINNELL (Camden) (19:37): As part of Bowls NSW's annual competition, Camden Men's Bowling Club entered the Zone 5 fours team qualification. Camden Men's Bowling Club was successful in winning the Zone 5 open fours and open reserve. Following that success, the teams travelled to Dubbo to compete in the New South Wales Bowls titles. Unfortunately, the open fours team of Bob Hodge, Ash Beadel, Kevin Harris and Matt Hooker faced fierce competition and did not progress to the finals. However, the open reserve team of Mick Pinkerton, Karl Szynal, Rick Staats and Gary Trick triumphed over Uralla, St Johns Park and Huskisson to qualify for the finals. In the final the open reserve team took an early 9‑7 lead. However, three quarters in, bad luck would turn the match when an unfortunate shot moved the jack to Lane Cove's advantage. While it was Lane Cove's day, winning 18-13, both teams did themselves, their club and our town proud and will be back next year for another title charge.
