Mrs SALLY QUINNELL (Camden) — After the death of John Macarthur in 1834, the first registered land title for the new Camden township was the nominal sale of 2.4 hectares by his sons, James and William, to the Bishop of Australia, Reverend William Broughton, in May 1841, for the erection of a church, a residence for a clergyman and a burial ground. On 7 July I was happy to attend St John's church to celebrate 175 years of nonstop service to the community and nonstop worship in the area. The Very Reverend Kanishka Raffel, the Archbishop of Sydney, was a guest. I thank the Reverend Matt Stedman for inviting me and helping me to unveil the plaque in the foyer of the incredibly iconic church. It was an absolutely fantastic day and I was very honoured to be there. It was a beautiful day full of Camden tradition. I congratulate St John's church, because 175 years is really something to celebrate.
