Camden Electorate Mother's Day Fun Run

22 June 2023

Mrs SALLY QUINNELL (Camden) (17:18): Mother's Day is often an emotional and memorable day for many, but it is especially so for those whose lives have been touched by grief. On Sunday 14 May the Camden Bike Track was a sea of pink. For the past two Mother's Days Camden has hosted a Mother's Day Classic fun run—or walk, in many cases—event. Thousands of locals walked the four kilometres out-and-back route to be met with music and local business stalls. There was a sausage sizzle cooked by Gregory Hills Rotary and enjoyed by many. The Camden electorate office staff were among many teams who proudly wore the names of family members and friends as they followed the pink Holden Valiant ute. Local musicians provided excellent accompaniment and we had the opportunity to purchase cupcakes, artwork and local handicrafts—as long as they were pink. I congratulate Jess, Sara and Kelly, who organised a wonderful and powerful community event that raises awareness and allows locals to gather in solidarity and remembrance.
